ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has ordered an inquiry into incident of female journalist’s thrashing by Frontier Constabulary (FC) guard on Friday for asking questions.
The event took place in National Database and Registration Authority’s (NADRA) office in Karachi’s Liaquatabad where a female reporter – Saima Kanwal – was slapped by a security guard.
The federal minister has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The journalist – working for K-21 channel – registered a case against the security guard in Gulbahar Police Station prompting him to lodge a case against her involving sections relating to interference in state affairs, weapon snatching and attempting to manhandle the uniform.
However, the minister has said that misbehaviour with the media persons would not be tolerated. Reportedly, Saima Kanwal was going live at the time on problems faced by citizens at the registration office.
