ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Senator Saeed Ghani on Friday demanded constitution of a parliamentary committee to investigate Panama Papers’ reports about the foreign assets of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.
Talking to the media, Ghani said that parliament was the supreme and the representative institution of the country, as it represented several political parties in the country. He demanded constitution of a committee representing treasury and opposition benches to investigate the issue, which shook the entire world, including Pakistan. He said the PPP believed in the supremacy of parliament. He said the late Benazir Bhutto struggled for a powerful and vibrant parliament and former president Asif Ali Zardari gave a practical shape to her dream by returning all powers to the parliament that had been usurped by dictators.
