HYDERABAD: The Pakistan Medical Association, Sindh Chapter, has alleged that health department of Sindh was the most corrupt department as there was no accountability of wastage of money amounting to billions in this department.
Addressing news conference here on Sunday, PMA Sindh General Secretary Pir Manzoor said on one hand the government was not tiring of alleging the NGOs of loot and plunder while on the other major hospitals in Sindh have been handed to People Primary Health Initiative (PPHI), an NGO related to Pakistan Peoples Party.
He said PMA has been raising voice since day one against handing over government hospitals to the NGOs but since new chief minister has said to bring improvements in health and education they hope he would undo privatization of hospitals in Sindh.
Pir Manzoor took exception to promotion of Hassan Murad Shah, DHO Matiari, to the post of Director General Health Sindh bypassing 44 seniors as he was class mate of former health minister Jam Mehtab Dahar.
He revealed that medicines worth Rs 19 billion were purchased but not supplied to hospitals and demanded of the NAB to hold inquiry into the matter. He said the health department was being run during last 3 years in an unprecedented way as former health minister made his friends and class fellows the masters of black and white of the department who made fortunes.
Pir Manzoor was accompanied with other office bearers of PMA Sindh, including Lala Jaffar, Rafiq Qureshi, Zafar Seehro, Abid Qaimkhani and Gulzar Jumani and others.
